CBAP Opens Reservations for 27th Annual Convention on “The Word in a World at War”

MANILA, Philippines — The Catholic Biblical Association of the Philippines (CBAP) has officially opened reservations for its 27th Annual Convention, which will be held on 18–20 September 2026 at the PBS Tower, UN Avenue, Malate, Manila.

Carrying the theme, “Beat Swords into Plowshares, Be Peacemakers” (cf. Isaiah 2:4; Matthew 5:9), with the subtitle “The Word in a World at War,” this year’s convention will examine the biblical call to peace, justice, reconciliation, and hope amid the realities of conflict and violence in today’s world.

The annual gathering brings together CBAP members and observers, together with biblical scholars, theology professors, researchers, students of Sacred Scripture, and pastoral ministers from across the Philippines.

Over three days, participants will engage in keynote addresses, plenary lectures, and scholarly paper presentations exploring the biblical, theological, historical, and pastoral dimensions of the convention theme.

The convention will feature keynote addresses by His Eminence Cardinal Pablo Virgilio S. David, Bishop of Kalookan, and Rev. Fr. Selva Rathinam, SJ of the Loyola School of Theology. Their presentations will provide the theological framework for the convention’s discussions on the role of Sacred Scripture in promoting peace and reconciliation in today’s world.

The CBAP Annual Convention is the Association’s premier annual academic gathering, fostering biblical scholarship, theological dialogue, and collaboration among scholars, educators, and pastoral practitioners committed to the study and proclamation of the Word of God.
